World Gym International, the iconic global brand for bodybuilding and seriously fun fitness, will open its first Nashville gym in the North Gulch in 2017 at 114 George L. Davis Blvd, Nashville, TN 37203.
“Nashville appreciates authenticity and World Gym has a long legacy of serious fitness,” said Johnny Wilkins, owner of World Gym Music City. “I was obese for the first 20 years of life until I fell in love with fitness. Working out is my passion, my leisure and my therapy. When I moved to the Gulch, I was disappointed in my options for a full-service gym anywhere nearby. Living in such an exciting and vibrant neighborhood, I decided there needed to be an equally enjoyable gym experience downtown. I’m looking forward to sharing my passion and World Gym’s commitment to fitness with Nashville.”
To build World Gym Music City, Wilkins has partnered with ESa Architects to convert the Music City Auction Building in the North Gulch. ESa is known for their work at The Hutton Hotel, The Sewanee Inn, Gulch Crossing, The Schermerhorn Symphony Center, The Gaillard Center and the iconic AT&T Tennessee Headquarters in Downtown Nashville.
The 25,000-square-foot gym will have all the latest equipment and training facilities on two floors, including cardio equipment, selectorized strength machines, a group cardio room, a group training room, stand-up tanning, massage lounges, free weights, cable machines, leverage machines, a spin room, locker rooms, and a small retail offering with supplements, clothing and grab-and-go items.
The North Gulch has seen an influx of new developments. The building for World Gym Music City was recently purchased in January of 2016 by 114 RE Investment LLC, led by Paul Huddleston. “We feel that World Gym is a perfect fit for our unique building, and a much needed amenity for the community.” Huddleston is local real estate investor as well as the owner of the luxury furniture rental company, Please Be Seated, based in Nashville. World Gym Music City, which fronts Interstate 40/65, is across the street from where Atlanta-based Pollack Shores is under construction on a 367 unit apartment complex. On the other side, a Whole Foods anchored mixed use development will reach 27 stories once completed. The revitalized 12th & Porter is just around the corner as well. Charlie Gibson of Cushman & Wakefield represented the landlord in leasing negotiations and Matthew Wilson of Gateway Property Services represented Wilkins and World Gym.
World Gym Music City is expected to open in 2017.
